From the land to the pizza.
The subject
Gabriele Bonci: a photographic account of the whole chain, from the wheat in the fields to the dough and the finished pizza, plus a portrait.
The point of view
The company's visual language was raw: a lot of Gabriele (reels, photos of him), less of the products. I came in when he was unavailable, and a narrative had to be rebuilt.
It came naturally to begin at the start of the process: Bonci grows his wheat to make his flour and his pizza, controlling everything in between.
For him pizza is a plate, a support to put anything on: so I photographed it from above, in a museum-like way, like a painting, with the ingredients in the foreground more than the pizza itself.
The journey
2024, for the company: images for social media and communication in general.
They appeared on Instagram and Facebook and in the Italian press.

Gabriele Bonci is one of the most recognisable figures in Italian food culture. His work doesn’t stop at pizza: it’s a continuous investigation into matter, fermentation, and the relationship between territory and transformation.
The portrait came to me while we were visiting one of his wheat fields: a place that, for him, expresses belonging, and where I could portray him immersed.
